In this case, the architect presented us with the challenge of finding solutions for this beachfront house in the north of Mallorca. It has a north-facing facade that is exposed to severe storms during the winter due to its proximity to the sea.

We proposed an integrated exterior textile solution that can withstand wind speeds of up to 120 km/h. This protection offers shade on all sides of the building while facilitating cross ventilation within the rooms. Being located on the waterfront, it benefits from the thermal wind known as “embat” during the summer afternoons, ensuring natural cooling of the interior spaces.

For the interior courtyards, as the residence consists of multiple modules, we suggested a solution for the summer using roll-up sails. We were able to integrate all the hardware, including the poles and pulley systems, into the facade, achieving a minimalist aesthetic impact of the sails that minimally interferes with the architectural language characterized by clean lines and local stone elements typical of the island.

This integration would not have been possible without the collaboration between an expert in the field and the project’s architect. It requires detailed preparation specifically tailored to each project. The difference it makes is significant, allowing the preservation of the facade’s clean lines while creating ample shading spaces for the summer, as opposed to having visible tubes and cables that would detract from the architectural integrity. It highlights the work of a true expert in solar protection.
